During a 10-day stretch, parish officials said the St. John Animal Shelter took in 39 animals, which filled the location.

“We need assistance in finding homes for the animals,” St. John Communication Director Baileigh Rebowe Helm said. To help, an Adoption Event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Shelter, 488 W. 2nd St. in LaPlace.

The public is invited to visit with adoptable animals at the shelter.

Jambalaya and drinks will be sold to raise money for heartworm funds that are used to treat heartworm positive dogs.
