- Oct. 26 1972: Frank Fagot, left, chief of LaPlace Volunteer Fire Department shows a license plate advertising the first LaPlace Andouille Festival to Mentor ‘Sleepy’ Landry, who first suggested such a festival two years ago in a letter to L’OBSERVATEUR. The inaugural festival was held on the grounds of the LaPlace Dragway.
Oct. 29 1981: Identical twins Mary Beth and Emmy Lou Tekell of LaPlace are ready for ‘Trick or Treat.’ Mary Beth and Emmy Lou are 4-year-old daughters of Brad and Janet Tekell.
