LAPLACE — Three people were arrested in LaPlace after breaking into a residence on Wednesday.

“A complainant reported that the homeowner was not home, and no one was supposed to be in the residence,” St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre said.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 800 block of Louisiana 628 in LaPlace at 7:51 p.m. Deputies arrested D’Angelo Moore, 21, of LaPlace; Cardan Davis, 20, of LaPlace; and Roxanne Martin, 47, of Kenner.

They were caught in the act, authorities said, adding the case is still under investigation to determine if anything was stolen from the residence. There was no evidence of forced entry, authorities said.

Sgt. Dane Clement said authorities are not releasing if there was a connection between the suspects and the homeowner. Authorities said they do not know what the relationships are between the three suspects.

While deputies were booking Martin, Tregre said she slipped out of her shackles.

Authorities said Martin pulled her foot through her ankle shackles and was charged with attempted escape.

“Shackles are like large handcuffs that are put around the ankles of subjects being booked,” Clement said. “She didn’t get out, she was just in the confines of the booking area.”

The three were booked with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, and as of Friday at press time all three were still in custody.

“Roxanne Martin’s bond is set at $35,000,” Clement said. “Cardan Davis’ is $25,000 and I believe Moore’s is $25,000 as well.”
