HAHNVILLE — St. Charles Parish government will provide citizens with a behind-the-scenes look at the workings of parish infrastructure and services, including pumping stations and the new Emergency Operations Center, during the fall of 2015.

Tours will be held Nov. 12 on the West Bank and Nov. 13 on the East Bank between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. both days. Meetup for both tours will be at the new St. Charles Parish Emergency Operations Center, 15026 River Road in Hahnville. Transportation and lunch will be provided.

The tour includes a walk-through of the St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter and the new Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, available both days.

“I want to personally encourage all St. Charles Parish residents to take the Info Tour,” Parish President V.J. St. Pierre Jr. said.

“It offers a complete look at what it takes to keep the parish up and running in a way that many residents don’t notice as they go about their daily activities.”

Patrons will also have the chance to interface with various department heads and parish employees that will answer questions about current infrastructure and future plans.

The West Bank tour will also feature the Luling wastewater oxidation pond, the Cousins pumping station and the Luling waterworks facility.

In addition, the East Bank tour will feature the Destrehan wastewater treatment plant, the Cross Bayou pumping station and the New Sarpy waterworks plant.
