RESERVE — A Boil Water Advisory has been lifted for a majority of St. John the Baptist Parish water customers in Water District No. 1, which serves Reserve, Garyville and Mount Airy.
However, those customers who live on Regala Park Road, Rosenwald from Power Boulevard to Airline Highway and West 10th from Power Boulevard to Airline Highway are still under a Boil Water Advisory.
Parish officials made the announcement this afternoon, citing the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals — Office of Public Health, which confirmed 13 of the 14 samples tested negative for contaminants.
Water pressure was restored to the region early Tuesday morning.
At the time, St. John sampled 14 sites to test the water system for contaminants. Anytime a system experiences a break in a line or when pressure is below 15 pounds, the water produced by the system is prone to possible contamination, parish officials said.
“Upon notification from the LDHH-OPH that the additional water samples collected from Regala Park Road are negative for contaminants, the Boil Water Advisory will be lifted for Regala Park Road,” a release from the parish stated.
It is recommended water customers on Regala Park Road, Rosenwald from Power Boulevard to Airline & West 10th from Power Boulevard to Airline disinfect their water before consuming it by boiling water for a full minute in a clean container.
The minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.
