Destrehan group brings in 200

KENNER — One of the oldest families in St. Charles Parish recently hosted their 28th annual family reunion at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Kenner.

More than 200 descendants of the late Sidney and Malvina Becnel of Destrehan attended. Five generations participate in the reunion each year, representing the 11 children, 52 grandchildren, 108 great-grandchildren, 105 great-great-grandchildren and six great-great-great-grandchildren.

This year’s activities included family picture boards, a children’s pajama party, raffle baskets, a 50-50 drawing, a Kidz Karnival, family Mass, a musical salute to service members and veterans and a buffet dinner.
