HAHNVILLE — Two teenagers have been arrested in the wake of a violent auto wreck this week that claimed the life of an area female.
St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office Captain Patrick Yoes said Fredrick Jackson, 17, of New Orleans was arrested Wednesday, charged with negligent homicide and reckless separation.
Authorities said Jackson was the driver of a vehicle found overturned on River Park Drive in Hahnville at approximately 2 a.m. Monday.
When deputies arrived, they found only the body of Bailee Winters, a 17-year-old female from Hahnville.
Winters, who was partially ejected from the vehicle, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities believe Jackson and Bailey Picou, 17, of Luling were in the vehicle with Winters and fled the scene before deputies arrived. Yoes said he could not speculate on a motive for the suspects’ actions.
No other arrests are anticipated.
“We will continue to piece (the investigation) together,” Yoes said. “We don’t anticipate we will have any other arrests unless something else develops.
“(Jackson) was operating the vehicle in a manner which caused the death of someone else. It’s negligence on (his) part.”
Authorities said Picou of Luling was an occupant in the vehicle, allegedly fled the scene after the wreck and was arrested Tuesday and booked accordingly.
