Skype visit set with author John Searles
DESTREHAN — The St. Charles Parish East Regional Library book discussion group will host a Skype visit with author John Searles about his most recent book, “Help for the Haunted,” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the East Regional Library in Destrehan.
“In June 2014, Searles decided he would like to speak to 50 book clubs in 50 states,” said St. Charles Parish Library Assistant Director Vicki Nesting.
“We’re very excited that the St. Charles Parish Library was selected to be the Louisiana stop on his book club tour.”
Searles is a former editor at Cosmopolitan magazine and is an entertaining speaker, with many unique stories to share about working at the largest women’s magazine in the world.
“Help for the Haunted” is a mystery about a young woman haunted by the long ago murder of her parents, whose occupation was to help “haunted souls” find peace.
It was selected for the American Library Association’s Alex Award, and appeared on the Boston Globe’s 2013 Best Crime Fiction list, Amazon’s Top 10 Mystery and Suspense Novels of 2013 and Entertainment Weekly’s Top 10 Must Read List.
The book discussion group at the East Regional Library has been meeting regularly since 2004.
All meetings are held at the East Regional Library in Destrehan on the third Wednesday of every month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The group is open to new members.
