BATON ROUGE — Two LaPlace residents were honored as part of LSU University College’s annual Celebration of Excellence Spring Awards program.
Julia Cupit of LaPlace was awarded the LSU University College Tiger Athletic Foundation Scholarship. Cupit, a freshman undecided with an overall 3.785 GPA, is the daughter of Andrew and Helena Cupit and a graduate of St. Charles Catholic High School.
Madison Stein, also of LaPlace, was awarded LSU University College’s Elayn Hunt Memorial Scholarship. Stein, a freshman majoring in management with a 4.0 GPA, joins an elite group of scholarship recipients. Stein, daughter of Gregg and Celeste Stein, is a graduate of St. Charles Catholic High School.
The event took place March 12 at The Club at Union Square in Baton Rouge.
“Two important components of student retention are the opportunities to reward students for their academic achievements and to recognize outstanding teaching in the classroom,” said Paul Ivey, executive director of LSU University College.
“University College is pleased to have generous donors that allow us to offer scholarships to students who have demonstrated a commitment to their college studies.
“Our ‘Celebration of Excellence’ ceremony allows us the opportunity to publicly recognize these young scholars.”
