Students from Mindy Landry’s and Lynesia Preyan’s third grade classes at Lakewood Elementary School attended a field trip at Destrehan Plantation on March 31, studying the history of plantations and slavery. Cadence Cheek was able to use a real washboard. Students had a sneak peek into calligraphy, too. Then after lunch they were able to play some outdoor games like the old days.
