DONALDSONVILLE — A St. Charles Parish teenager driving on Louisiana 3127 in St. James Parish was killed following an early-evening Friday wreck.

Erskine Webster III, 19, of Luling was pronounced dead on the scene by the St. James Parish Coroner’s Office, authorities said.

Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop C began investigating the fatality crash shortly before 5:30 p.m.

The investigation revealed Webster was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro south on Louisiana 3127 near the Ascension Parish line when he attempted to pass several vehicles in the rain, Trooper Evan Harrell said.

At the same time, a 2010 Dodge Ram driven by Anthony Abadie, 51, of Reserve was traveling north on the same road.

Webster lost control of the Camaro, Harrell said, as he was passing, and the vehicle began to spin clockwise.

“The Ram struck the Camaro on the driver’s side door,” Harrell said.

Webster died as a result of injuries suffered during the collision.

Abadie, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital with moderate injuries.

Authorities said impairment is unknown and routine toxicology tests are pending for Webster.

Blood was taken from Abadie, and the test resultsare pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab, Harrell said, adding the crash remains under investigation.
