RESERVE — A man arrested in Reserve is facing 10 drug and gun charges after the strong order of marijuana led authorities to the discovery of drugs and guns.
Sheriff Mike Tregre said St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were on proactive patrol duty on East 30th Street in Reserve Wednesday because of numerous complaints of illegal narcotics activity in the area.
“While on patrol, deputies detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana,” Tregre said in a release. “As deputies stepped out to investigate where the odor was coming from, they saw a man who they identified as Kirk Frank, 35, exit a house.”
The odor of burnt marijuana got stronger as deputies approached the house, according to authorities.
Based on the investigation, Tregre said deputies obtained a search warrant for the house and recovered a shotgun, handgun, 360 grams of marijuana (worth $5,000), 78.5 tablets of schedule IV CDS (worth $200), .3 grams of synthetic marijuana and four digital scales.
Frank was booked two counts of illegal carrying a weapon with CDS, two counts possession of a firearm by convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, four counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute schedule IV CDS, possession of synthetic marijuana, violation of a drug free zone and an attachment.
He remains in custody in lieu of a $235,150 bond.
Frank has been arrested six times in St. John the Baptist Parish since December 2011, authorities said.
