RESERVE — St. John Theatre is producing Irving Berlin’s classic Broadway hit, “Annie Get Your Gun” as its 35th summer musical at the theatre in Reserve.

This year’s show will be directed by theater veteran Greer M. Millet.

Audition dates are April 13-16, with the action starting at 7 p.m. nightly at the theater on West 4th Street in Reserve.

Show dates are July 17-19 and July 22-25.

Millet needs a large cast, and she encourages families to audition for stage roles and to volunteer for the many jobs behind the scenes.

The show centers on Annie Oakley, the best shot around. She manages to support her little brother and sisters by selling the game she hunts.

When she is discovered by Col. Buffalo Bill, he persuades her to join his Wild West Show. It only takes a glance for her to fall head-over-heels for shooting ace Frank Butler, who headlines the show.

She eclipses Butler as the main attraction which, the rival shooters into motion.

St. John Theatre leaders tout the show as “great family fun” with “great music.”

The theater is supported by a grant from the New Orleans Arts Council.
