LAPLACE — The American Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 383 of LaPlace, sponsored by Supreme Ford of LaPlace, will hold a barbecue fundraiser Saturday to provide funding for the Legion’s premiere youth program, Boys/Girls State.
The youth effort is a weeklong program of state governmental education.
Supreme Ford is providing a location at the dealership for veterans to sell hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches and dinners to the public, along with soft drinks and snacks.
Dave Gatt, commander, and Cheryl Gansemer, Auxiliary president of the LaPlace Post, thanked Supreme Ford for its patriotic support.
The meals will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of LaPlace Ford on Belle Terre Boulevard.
In other news, American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary Post 383 in LaPlace members Teale Green, Auxiliary President Cheryl Gansemer and Linda Gabriel delivered eight boxes of goods and supplies collected from a local New Orleans hospital ‘Soldiers at War Drive’ to the National Guard Armory Division in Reserve Friday for distribution to deployed Louisiana troops overseas.
Boxes included can goods, toiletries, office supplies and books.
