LAPLACE — St. John the Baptist Parish children will have an opportunity to visit with the Easter Bunny and hunt for hidden eggs as Easter in the Park is celebrated at two locations next weekend.

St. John the Baptist Parish is hosting the events from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 28 at Thomas F. Daley Memorial Park on Louisiana 51 in LaPlace and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 28 at the West Bank Park Complex on Louisiana 18 Edgard.

“Families are encouraged to join us for this fun-filled community event to celebrate the joys of Easter and the coming of spring,” Parish President Natalie Robottom said.

“Easter in the Park has become an annual tradition for many of our families, and we look forward to many more families joining in the fun.”

Attendees are welcome free of charge, as organizers plan to give out pizza, drinks and Easter candy to children 2 to 12 years old.

The St John Office of Fire Services will allow children to tour a fire truck and also will be handing out fire safety information.

In addition to taking pictures with the Easter Bunny, parents will also be given the opportunity to take photos of children with firefighters and the truck.

“We have had a great turnout in years before with over 300 children normally participating,” Public Information Officer Baileigh Rebowe said. “We look forward to making the event bigger and better each year and take pride in providing our youth opportunities to venture out into the community for a fun and positive event.”

Guests are asked to bring a personal camera for more picture-taking fun.

Rebowe said there is no charge for Easter photos, and parish officials will take pictures, as well to post online.

The Egg Hunt will begin at 11:30 a.m. at both locations.
