Inclusive Summer Day Camp applications ready

HAHNVILLE — The St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation is taking applications for its 2015 Inclusive Summer Day Camp. 

The camp is scheduled to run from June 1 until July 10 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for campers ages 5 through 12 (regular camp), 13 through 15 (teen camp – Schoeffner site only) and 5 through 21 (campers with developmental disabilities – Schoeffner site only). Potential attendees should register early, as there is limited enrollment at each site. 

Early registration is open until Friday for $300. Regular registration will be open from March 14 to May 9 at a cost of $350. Late registration will be from May 10 to May 15 at a cost of $400.

Campsites include Ethel Schoeffner Elementary in Destrehan, Lakewood Elementary in Luling, St. Rose Elementary in St. Rose and Luling Elementary in Luling.

Parents may register their children online by visiting stcharlesparish-la.gov/recreation and clicking on the ‘camps’ page.

Activities will include team sports, arts and crafts, board games, music, a talent show, outdoor activities, movie time, field trips, swimming, spray park and much more.

One free T-shirt is included with the camp rate, and additional shirts may be purchased for $5 each. Optional before and after care is available for a one-time additional fee of $350 at the Lakewood and Schoeffner sites.

The fee must be paid in full prior at the time of registration. Campers at the Luling and St. Rose site may take part in the Summer Food Program for lunch; campers at other sites must bring a bag lunch.

Those in need of financial assistance for summer camp may apply for a limited number of need-based scholarships through the United Way of St. Charles. Visit uwaysc.org for the application or call 985-331-9063 for more information on how to apply.

An information and registration day will be held from 9 a.m. until noon April 25 at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, located at 274 Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway in Luling.

T-shirts will also be available for purchase on that date.
