LAPLACE — A young woman was robbed at gunpoint Monday, and the assailant is on the loose, authorities said.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1100 block of Heather Lane in LaPlace at 10:01 p.m. Monday after a 20-year-old female reported an assault took place outside her home.

She told deputies when she left her residence to go to her neighbor’s home, a man with a gun approached her and ordered her to give him everything she had.

She gave up her cellular phone to him, authorities said, and the assailant fled the area on foot toward Airline Highway.

The robber was wearing khaki pants and a gray and white camouflage shirt.

The victim was not injured, authorities said, adding deputies canvassed the area looking for the assailant to no avail.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
