PAULINA — The St. Peter Chanel Charger Family celebrated Catholic Schools Week in January, starting with an opening Mass and jambalaya lunch served to the community.

St. James Parish President Timmy Roussel, Lutcher Mayor Patrick St. Pierre and Gramercy Mayor Steven Nosacka also presented a proclamation. The students were allowed a day to dress as their favorite book character, and also donated a baby item to Catholic Charities.

Faculty and staff were treated to gumbo and dessert on Wednesday, and St. Peter Chanel hosted the diocesan-wide Catholic Schools Week Mass Thursday led by Bishop Robert Muench.

To wrap up the week, Friday was Priest Appreciation Day.

Catholic Schools Week honors the mission of Catholic education and its impact on individuals and the community.
