St. Rose center serves community

ST. ROSE — The St. Rose Community Center is a neighborhood drop-in center located in the Preston Hollow subdivision in St. Rose .

It provides community-based services for at-risk youth and adult community members.

Located at 608 Mockingbird Lane, the center offers residents access to adult basic computer literacy classes, equipment for faxing and a free computer lab for job searching and resume writing.

Other activities in 2014 included after-school homework help, adult line dancing classes, karaoke, outdoor movie nights, recreational activities and a summer enrichment program.

In 2014, 63 adults visited the center 318 times for services, as well as 127 children for 1,840 visits.

The St. Rose Community Center is administered by the St. Charles Parish Department of Community Services.

The Department’s director is Joan Diaz, and Ferdneit Bailey serves as St. Rose Community Center Coordinator.
