LAPLACE — In the spirit of the holiday season, St. John the Baptist Parish President Natalie Robottom, her administrative staff and St. John Parish employees teamed to assemble holiday food baskets for families in need.

The baskets, filled with non-perishable food items, gift certificates for turkeys and/or hams and other holiday fixings, were distributed to needy families Friday, just in time for Christmas preparations.

A total of 27 boxes/baskets were distributed to the needy.

“I want to extend my gratitude to all of our employees who participate in this gesture of generosity each year,” Robottom said. “As servants of the community, we are pleased to know that our efforts brought joy to 27 families this holiday season and we look forward to assisting residents again next year.”

The families receiving food donations were identified through the Department of Health and Human Services.

Additional resources for needy families may be available through local churches and the St. John Ministry of Care.
