LAPLACE — Five games into the boys prep soccer season this much is clear: St. Charles Catholic has become a force to be reckoned with.

The Comets defeated Lutcher 3-0  and downed Country Day 6-1 last week, extending their early season win streak to four in convincing fashion.

SCC also has wins over Independence and Houma Christian during the winning run, and have outscored those four teams by a combined 23-2 margin.

Albert Hane scored two goals and Andrew Rodrigue added another in the win over Lutcher.

“Our kids have been in the system,” said St. Charles Catholic coach Sean LeBlanc, now in his third season as Comets coach. “We’ve been beating teams you typically don’t see our program beat in the fashion we have. The guys just seem totally comfortable out there, playing together and having that complete grasp of who we are and what we do.”

SCC (4-1) scored its first goal 20 minutes into the Lutcher game, then added another two minutes into the second half.

Against Country Day, Albert Hane had another big day, scoring three times. Nick Roussel and Ross Browning each scored goals as well for SCC.

“The guys are excited right now,” LeBlanc said.

“They’re finally starting to achieve success, especially against rival schools and strong programs. It’s been a really strong start.”

The Comets will travel to face Haynes Tuesday at noon.
