ST. ROSE — A New Sarpy man was arrested and other suspects are being sought following an attempted break-in in St. Rose Thursday night.

St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne said at approximately 10:48 p.m. Thursday, unknown subjects attempted to break into a residence in the 300 block of Oak Street in St. Rose.

Champagne said they were unsuccessful due to furniture blocking the interior door of the residence.

Rodric J. Shorts of New Sarpy was arrested, and police say he was the driver of the vehicle in the burglary.

Champagne said the other subjects fled the scene.

Authorities believe there may be a connection between the St. Rose burglary and a Destrehan armed robbery that occurred this month.

Anyone with information on either of the crimes is asked to contact the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-903-STOP.

Authorities released a picture of a suspect wanted in connection with the burglary.

Anyone having information on the identity of the subject is asked to contact the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807.

Residents do not have to give their name or testify and could receive up to $5,000.
