LAPLACE — More than 100 families will benefit from a donation of canned goods organized by St. John the Baptist Parish Government, officials said.
Parish President Natalie Robottom and her staff delivered boxes of canned goods to a faith-based drive Nov. 12 and the St. John Ministry of Care Nov. 14 as a donation to residents in need during the holidays.
The cans were collected on the Friday of the Andouille Festival and corresponded with a $1 admission fee.
Parish officials said Robottom and her staff sorted and packed the items for delivery, which will benefit more than 100 families.
“We would like to thank everyone who donated canned goods at the festival and assure them that their contributions will make a significant impact on our community,” Robottom said. “With the combined generosity of our residents and employees, we can give hope and support to those who need it most in difficult times.”
