LAPLACE — Cross Road Centers of Kenner handed out hams and food baskets to over 300 St. John the Baptist Parish families Saturday as part of its annual Thanksgiving give-a-way.
The event, held at The Greater New Plymouth Rock Church in Reserve, was organized by CRC in conjunction with local churches, including Tchoupitoulas Chapel, Beech Grove Baptist Church, Bethlehem Baptist Church, New Rescue Mission Missionary Baptist Church, Riverlands Christian Center, Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Milesville Memorial Church of God in Christ, New Pilgrim Baptist Church, Lifehouse Church and First Baptist Church in Reserve.
“It was a great success,” Myra Ann Eyman, who works in public relations at CRC, said.
“Reaching out and giving back to our community is at the core and heart of Cross Road Centers. It gives all employees the gift of sharing grace.”
Eyman said the participating churches handed out vouchers to local families in need. The vouchers were good for a ham and a food basket that included all of the trimmings needed for a Thanksgiving meal, from side items to a pie.
CRC is an international transportation, warehousing and logistics provider with its center of operations in Kenner.
Eyman said last year CRC bought the old Pepsi building on West 10th Street in Reserve and is in the process of preparing it to open a St. John Parish CRC site in the spring.
