Destrehan High School Senior Brooklyn Gillette was recognized an Outstanding Participant in the 2014-2015 National Achievement scholarship program, which recognizes academically high-performing black students.

Gillette scored among the top three percent of more than 160,000 eligible students.

Her name will be referred to over 1,500 colleges and universities to be considered for scholarship.
