Destrehan Plantation Festival set Nov. 8-9

DESTREHAN — The 43rd Annual Destrehan Plantation Fall Festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 8-9 on the plantation grounds at 13034 River Road in Destrehan.

Admission for the full day of entertainment and shopping is $7 for adults and teens. Children 12 and under get in free.

Over 150 craft vendors from throughout the United States will sell woodwork, stained glass, candles, housewares, jewelry and more. There will be a barn full of antiques, with dealers from throughout the state.

Food, such as jambalaya, pastalaya, fried seafood, shrimp pasta, crab cakes, hamburgers, gumbo, hotdogs, roasted corn, cochon de lait poboys, funnel cakes, onion mums, pralines, homemade cakes and candy and more will be available.

On Nov. 8, the music starts with Reed Allemand playing at 10 a.m., followed by Summer Breeze Band from 12:30 to 4 p.m. On Sunday, LO2 (formerly Local Option 2) will provide the entertainment from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

Plantation house tours are available throughout the day for an additional $5 per person.

Period craft demonstrations are also planned.

A children’s area will include pony rides, Eurobungy jumping and face painting.
