Garyville, Mt. Airy join in Night Out Against Crime

GARYVILLE — Neighborhoods throughout Garyville and Mt. Airy are being invited to join forces Oct. 14 with thousands of communities nationwide for the “31st Annual National Night Out” Crime and Drug Prevention event.

From 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 14, residents in the neighborhoods throughout Garyville/Mt. Airy and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on their brightest outside lights and spend the evening outside with family, friends, neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout Garyville will be hosting a variety of special events, such as block parties, cook outs, parades and visits from St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Baby Blues Gumbo and other local businesses in the St. John Parish are having a “2014 Bon Voyage to Crime & Drugs Celebration.” There will be free food, a coloring contest and an opportunity for residents to meet and greet other residents.

Residents will be provided with information on the importance of developing some type of positive relationship with your neighbor next door as well as your neighbor down the road.
