LAPLACE — A LaPlace woman is facing charges she shot into the yard of her boyfriend’s estranged wife, authorities said.

The shooting took place Sept. 20 and culminated with a drive-by assault and an arrest.

A 39-year-old female victim told St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies her estranged husband visited her house to make peace. During the visit, she would later tell deputies, the male’s current girlfriend called to say she would drive by and shoot up the home.

Sgt. Dane Clement said authorities believe Amanda Fleuriet, 39, of LaPlace, drove past the victim’s house and fired two shots, striking a parked truck on the driveway.

No one was injured.

Fleuriet turned herself in Monday at the Criminal Investigations Division following charges of assault by drive-by shooting and aggravated damage to property.

Fleuriet is free after posting a $30,000 bond and not facing more serious attempted-murder charges because the victim was not personally targeted, police said.

“A detective did investigate it and was out that night, talking to the victim and a third party,” Clement said.

“The victim was outside (during the shooting) but not in the front yard, where the shots were actually fired. (The victim) IDed the (shooter’s) vehicle as a gold Chrysler.”
