Oscar J. Ory Jr., DDS, 97, died Wednesday, Sept. 24.

He was the beloved husband of Hazel Montegut Ory for 73 years; father of Oscar (Jay) Ory III (Barbara), Dr. Robert Ory (Jeanne) and Linda Ory Joint (George).

He was also survived by 17 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

He was the son of the late Dr. Oscar J. Ory and Beatrice Richard Ory and brother of the late Richard Ory and Sybil Ory Uter Morris.

Doc, as he was known to many, practiced dentistry in St. John the Baptist Parish for over 50 years after serving in the U.S. Army Dental Corp during World War II.

He was a native of Garyville and a resident of LaPlace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend services.

Visitation is at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W. 5th St. in LaPlace, 9 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, followed by Mass at noon.

Burial is in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve.

In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred.
