CANTON, Miss., — Two students from the River Parishes joined over 550 Culver-Stockton students, faculty and staff as they participated in the sixth annual Extreme Dome Makeover Aug. 23, volunteering their services to fix up 16 sites in Canton, Miss.

Local students included James Sledge, freshman business major from LaPlace, and Willie Youngblood, junior sport management major of Vacherie.

Volunteers spent the day doing various activities like painting, landscaping and cleaning.

Project sites included public areas and private residences.

“We want our students to know that being a servant leader is important,” Dean of Students Chris Gill said.

“Hopefully by the time they graduate they will know that importance and they’ll be able to lead service projects in their own community.”

Culver-Stockton College is a four-year residential institution in affiliation with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
