LAPLACE — An Angel Gown Service project is planned this weekend.

The event is open to all those interested in helping repurpose donated wedding dresses into tiny burial gowns for babies who pass away in Neonatal Intensive Care Units in local hospitals.

The effort is hosted by the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the chapel, 15 Palmetto in LaPlace.

Sewing skills are not required, just helping hands and willing hearts.

Feel free to bring seam rippers, scissors, rotary cutters and sewing machines for those who want to sew.
