LAPLACE — A LaPlace teenager was arrested this week in connection to two cases of stolen vehicles.

A 15-year-old male was arrested Monday after a St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a vehicle at 9:44 a.m. near the intersection of Airline Highway and Main Street matching the description of a stolen vehicle.

“The deputy arrested the driver for possession of stolen property,” a release from the Sheriff’s Office said. “He was identified as a 15-year-old male from Revere Drive. A computer check on the juvenile revealed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant issued on May 23.”

Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in the 2900 block of Williamsburg Drive in LaPlace at 8:39 a.m. Monday following a vehicle-theft report.

Authorities said during an investigation in May detectives identified the same juvenile and another juvenile, who was arrested on July 7, as suspects in a burglary of Frank’s Auto and Body Shop on Main Street in LaPlace.

Two vehicles were stolen during the Frank’s Auto burglary, authorities said, and were later recovered in St. Charles Parish. The juvenile arrested Monday was booked on the warrant for simple burglary and two counts of theft of a motor vehicle.

He remains in custody at the Assumption Parish Juvenile Detention Center after a detention hearing on Wednesday.
