OPELOUSAS — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Judy Claflin Olivier at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.

Reverend Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass. Rite of committal will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Olivier, 71, died on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at her daughter’s residence in Lafayette.

She was very active in the St. Joan of Arc Choir in LaPlace and also the Opelousas Community Choir. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Patrick John Olivier and wife, Claire, of Church Point; her daughter, Christine Olivier Trahan and husband, Patrick, of Lafayette; her brother, Mark Eugene Claflin and wife, Sharon, of St. Gabriel; and her sister, Vickie Claflin Giamalva and husband, John, of College Park, Maryland.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Matt Hollier, Caelee Hollier, Marty Hollier, Cody Olivier, Rebecca Haley Fatherree, Samantha Paige Fatherree, Chance Marsh and one great-grandchild, Mason Talbot.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Oren Joseph Olivier and her parents, Victor Otto and Maude McFarland Claflin.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will reopen on Friday at 8 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Matt Hollier, Marty Hollier, Cody Olivier, John Olivier, John Giamalva, Toby Bertrand and honorary pallbearers will be Brien Olivier and Patrick Trahan.
