LAPLACE — American Legion members are grilling up some summer food in the name of government education for the area’s youth.

American Legion Post 383 of LaPlace, sponsored by Supreme Ford of LaPlace, will hold a barbecue fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 16 on the dealership’s grounds on Belle Terre Boulevard.

Organizers said money raised will help fund Boys/Girls State, a weeklong program of state governmental education for youth.

Supreme Ford, led by general manager Tony Larosa, is providing a location for the veterans to sell hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches, soft drinks and snacks to the public.

Dave Gatt, commander of the LaPlace Post, said Supreme Ford staff members have demonstrated “they wish to show their patriotic support by honoring the veterans with their generosity.”

Hamburgers and hotdogs will be sold for $2. Chips and soft drinks will each be sold for $1.
