RESERVE — St. John Theatre will have auditions next month for its fall production of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”

The auditions are at 7 p.m. nightly Aug. 12 and 13 the theater, 115 W. 4th St. in Reserve.

Lance S. Ural is directing the show, and he is looking for: Charlie Brown, baritone; Snoopy, tenor; Schroeder, tenor; Sally (Patty in original), mezzo soprano; Lucy Van Pelt, alto; Linus Van Pelt, baritone; Red Headed Girl, silent; and Woodstock, silent.

An accompanist will be on hand to teach and play songs from the show.

This production of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” was re-imagined by its creative team and helped make a star of Kristin Chenoweth when it was revised on Broadway in 1999.

The Broadway director Michael Mayer visited with Charles M. Schulz to get his blessing on the revision.

Schulz gave Mayer access to his cartoons, and the result was thorough.

Seventeen of the original show’s scenes have been deleted, and 21 new ones have been added.

Additionally, composer Andrew Lippa has revised seven of the original 14 songs with vocal and dance arrangements and has written two new songs, as well as reconceiving the opening number.

“This truly is a brand new look at the wildly popular show, and it will be PEANUTS entertainment the whole family can enjoy,” a release from the theater said.

The proposed show dates are Nov. 6-9.
