LAPLACE — Lionel Washington, a native of Lutcher and resident of LaPlace, was recognized at Tuesday night’s St. John the Baptist Parish Council meeting with a proclamation congratulating him for his induction into the 2014 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame on June 21.

Washington, who currently serves as defensive coordinator for the Tulane Green Wave, spent 27 years in the National Football League as a player and coach, and has coached with several professional and college teams.

Washington has been involved in numerous community camps and outreaches, and Parish President Natalie Robottom and the Parish Council thanked him for his years of service to the community.
