Sugar Queen meeting planned Tuesday

LAPLACE — Any sweet Southern belles from St. John the Baptist Parish interested in participating in the 66th annual St. John Sugar Queen Pageant should take note that on Tuesday an informational meeting will be held about the pageant.
Sue Cancienne said young ladies from the ages of 18 to 22 are invited to compete for a chance to reign as the 66th St. John Sugar Queen. An informational meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fatty’s Main Street Grill, located at 509 Main St. in LaPlace.
Contestants must reside in St. John Parish and abide by the rules and regulations provided by the committee.
The year’s pageant, with a theme of “A Girl For All Seasons,” will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 9 at St. John Theatre in Reserve. Tickets are $12 and will be available to the public from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 6 and 7 in the theater’s lobby.
Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the pageant.
