LAPLACE — River Parishes Hospital announced Brooke Cancienne Hines, a Med Tech in the Lab, as a recent Employee of the Month.

She received an award certificate, $100, will have her picture displayed on the Employees of Excellence wall in the main front entrance of the hospital and will be a candidate for the hospital’s Employee of the Year.

Hines has been employed at River Parishes Hospital since February 2009. She began with the hospital as a medical laboratory technician and was promoted to a medical technologist. She is very conscientious about her work and handles situations proactively.

She ensures all documentation is correct and researches anything that may seem out of place and brings it to her supervisor’s attention.

“Brooke is a ray of sunshine in the Lab,” said Ashley Price, laboratory director.

“She consistently looks for ways to ensure records and quality controls are done properly, and will help in educating other staff members in the department when needed.”

Aside from her responsibilities in the Lab, Hines has volunteered to serve on the hospital’s Employee Appreciation Team (A Team) and has assisted in coordinating and overseeing several employee activities — many of which were held on her day off.

She also volunteered to coordinate one of the hospital’s past Mercy Award selection projects. She assured information was disseminated about the award and assisted in soliciting nominations. Once an employee was selected at the hospital level, she compiled a binder of the winner’s accomplishments for consideration of the LifePoint Mercy Award (River Parishes Hospital’s parent corporation).

“Brooke is always willing to help when needed,” said Kat Trepagnier, human resources director and director of the A Team. “She is a valued member of A Team and someone you always know you can count on.”

Hines said she is very excited and honored to be selected for this award.

She is a longtime resident of Reserve. She was married in January. She and her husband, Whitney Hines, recently moved to Gramercy. She enjoys playing tennis, running and going fishing and shopping.
