Edgard festival readies Saturday fun

EDGARD — The West St. John Community Action Panel is sponsoring its inaugural Festival for West Bank Residents and Businesses, scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the West St. John Recreation Complex in Edgard.

This family festival honors Edgard’s native son, musician and bandleader, David Barholomews.

The afternoon’s theme is Education, Employment and Empowerment with representatives from the Armed Forces recruiting, health care fields, Mardi Gras Indian costumes, educational and cultural/arts employment, industry, journalism, culinary arts and sports scheduled to attend.

Cold drinks, hot dogs, jambalaya, red beans, jammers and more will be served.

Live music will include John Gray Band, Papa Dukes and the Jubilee Dancers, Shae Pierre and more.

For youngsters, finger and face painting, Jupiter Jump, art displays and school supplies will be offered.
