Tigerettes’ dance performance draws raves, team receives Capital I Bowl invitation

HAMMOND — The LaPlace Elementary School Tigerettes have the chance to perform in a college football bowl game thanks to the performance of its numerous award winners.

The Tigerettes recently attended the 2014 UDA Summer Dance Camp at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, winning the third-place trophy for its home routine.

The Tigerettes also captured the Superior Award by earning 23 Superior and seven Excellent ribbons and eligibility to participate in the 2015 Capital I Bowl Pre-Game Performance in Orlando, Fla.

The UDA staff named the Tigerettes “Most Improved” for outstanding participation and willingness to learn.

In addition, Kearis Carter received a “Pin it Forward” from a UDA staff member for her positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Ravyn Bazile, Kayla Caronna, Kourageous Joseph, Brejan Walker, Kirstin Smith and Ron’Keya Kelly received pins for their participation in the St. Jude program.

Ashlyn Brown, Kacie Veal, Ravyn Bazile, Kearis Carter and Kiara Robinson were selected as 2014 All Americans, earning them eligibility to participate in the 2014 Thanksgiving Day Parade in Houston.
