LAPLACE — LARAYO had one meet to finish after defeating LaVacherie last week, but nonetheless wrapped up at least a share of the River Parish Swim League regular season championship with the victory last Monday.

The Barracudas (5-0) would finish undefeated with a win over Riverlands. That meet was scheduled to be finished Tuesday, after press time. The meet was originally slated to be contested June 26 but was rained out.

LARAYO has won the swim league title each year in the past decade.

“Our swimmers have done great job this year,” said LARAYO coach Michelle Jensen. “We didn’t have the same numbers as in the past and we lost some strength in our oldest group after a few departures. Our young swimmers really did a great job this year, though.’

“Our experienced, older swimmers have also done very well, but in the younger groups I thought we had a nice advantage most meets.”

Adrienne Arnett, Emily Schexnayder and Ben East each swept their three individual events for LARAYO.

Brady Matherne, Owen Weber, Kelly Campbell and Paige Williams each hauled in two victories while Aliyah Manson, Alex Schiff, Noelle Remondet, Ian Arnett, Courtney Brouwer, Joshua Vicknair, Kaile Levatino, Gage Crowdus and Evan Brady were each first place winners once for the Barracudas.
