LAPLACE — Riverlands earned its second victory of the season last week as it hosted Ellington, taking a 434-119 victory and evening its record at 2-2.
“I was really proud of everyone,” said Riverlands coach Lindsey Vicknair. “We were missing some kids and we had others step up to swim strokes they don’t normally, like butterfly. We saw a lot of improved times. It was a good night for us.”
Jillian Badeaux, Anna Guidry and Grace Richoux led the Stingrays, each scoring three individual first place wins.
Luke Bordelon, Alli Badeaux, Jack Chapman and Megan Hymel each won two events while Addison Ory, Michael Romaguera, Nathan Hall, Nathan Noel, Nathan Abadie, Mia Oncale, Trey Romaguera, Cade Prejeant, Shae Waguespack, Valerie Perilloux, Alex Noel, Maddie Sympson, Natalie St. Martin and Stevie Noyes rounded out Riverlands winners, each taking one win.
Riverlands’ meet with LARAYO Thursday night was suspended due to weather and will be finished next Tuesday night.
The Stingrays are set to host the River Parish Swim League Invitational July 11-13. The event will unofficially be named “Swimopoly,” decorated to fit a Monopoly theme.
“We’re really excited to host the meet,” Vicknair said. “We’ve got some new things going on … closed circuit TVs inside so people can see when their kids are coming up to swim. We’ve got the ‘meet mobile’ app that will let people follow the results instantly from their phones. We’re really looking forward to it.”
