American Legion Post of Laplace swears in officers

LAPLACE — American Legion Post 383 of LaPlace had a very busy meeting recently, when new Department of Louisiana Commander Billy Ray Foley swearing in the officers for the next year.
Several awards were presented, which included The Post Legionnaire of the Year to Gene Franques, Membership revitalization certificates went to Commander Dave Gatt, Sergeant of Arms, Benny Robichaux, Chaplain Gene Franques and others, visiting from local Post in the area.
Other guests included the two Vice Commanders for the state, Les Cromwell and Joe Weades, the Department Vice President for the Louisiana Auxiliary, Julianna Robinson, and the First District Commander, Richard Bell.
Six new members joined the American Legion and were sworn in by Commander Dave Gatt, bringing the membership for the Laplace Post to 305.
Foley also informed the LaPlace Post of his selection of Post Chaplain Gene Franques as the new Department Historian and Chairman of the Commission on Public Information.
