Pierre Oubre Jr. was born on July 30, 1934, and passed away in Lutcher on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the age of 79.

He was a native of Garyville and a resident of Paulina. He was a retired Operator with Colonial Sugars.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Douglas Oubre, Sr. (Wendy), Wesley Oubre (Rachelle), Dwain “Mega” Oubre (Cindy), and Stephen “Nu Nu” Oubre (Susan) as well as his grandchildren: Doug Oubre, Jr. (Shelly), Megan Oubre Hymel (Ross), Adam Oubre, Stephen Oubre, Jr. (Clair), Monica Oubre, Michael Oubre, Montana Oubre and Matthew Oubre, and two step-grandchildren: Jessica Maus and Casey Bourgeois and eight great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by sisters Lenora Oubre Oubre (John), Barbara Oubre Causey, Amelia Oubre Matherne, and Nobie Oubre Freeman and his ex-wife Esta Schexnayder Oubre.

He was preceded in death by parents Pierre Oubre, Sr. and Celine Cambre Oubre; brothers-in-law Marion Causey, Bertrand Matherne and Hal Freeman and his long-time companion, Stella Reeves.

Visitation will be on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Rose Lynn Funeral Services, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher, from 8 to 10:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina, officiated by the Reverend Brent Maher followed by burial in the church mausoleum.
