DESTREHAN — Beth Moncel, author of the food blog Budget Bytes, will speak at 10 a.m. July 5 at the St. Charles Parish East Regional Library, 160 W. Campus Drive in Destrehan.

Unwilling to sacrifice eating healthy and tasty food — and armed with a degree in nutritional science — Moncel began tracking her food costs and soon cut her grocery bill in half.

Over the past five years she has been sharing tips and techniques to cooking delicious meals on a budget on her blog. Moncel published her first cookbook in February. She will discuss her experiences as a blogger and cookbook author, as well as provide samples of some of her recipes at the event.
