River Parishes welcome grand openings

LAPLACE — Next week is proving to be a time of grand openings in the River Parishes and numerous business and community projects plan to roll out the red carpet for the community.

Work Day Cafe’ is holding a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. Monday at their location, 607 Belle Terre Blvd., Suite 4 in LaPlace.

The public in invited to experience a revamped park at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ormond Community Park in Destrehan. The grand re-opening will include a short ribbon cutting ceremony, St. Charles Parish Public Information Officer Renee Allemand Simpson said.

All park amenities, including the new spray park, are free and open to the public.

Other highlights include a concession stand, new restrooms, walking path, baseball field, paved parking, multi-use field and new playground.

The Marathon gas station at the Reserve Truck Stop and Casino is celebrating its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at 4450 W. Airline Highway in Reserve.

Free food and giveaways are planed for the first 700 people. Those who purchase food between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. will be entered into a chance for free gas.
