LAPLACE — River Parishes Hospital is hosting a community blood drive from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the blood mobile located in front of the River Parishes Hospital Medical Pavilion at 502 Rue de Santé in LaPlace.

Anyone 16 or older who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good health can donate.

There is no age limit and all blood pressure medications and anti-depressants are accepted. Some height restrictions apply for anyone under the age of 23.

Donors must provide a picture identification card in order to donate. Parental/guardian permission is required for 16-years-old donors.

All donors may choose to receive blood assurance coverage for their family, or may choose to join the “Hero Reward Club,” in which donors can redeem their blood bank points for valuable prizes.

Additionally, all donors will receive a total cholesterol screening and a special gift.

Participants can sign up for a donation time by going to bloodhero.com and entering sponsor code RPH, or may contact River Parishes Hospital at 985-653-1644.

Walk-ins are also welcome. Participants are encouraged to schedule an appointment time if at all possible, as this will provide faster service.

“Remember, one pint of blood can save three lives,” organizers said.
