NEW ORLEANS — A few outstanding Girl Scouts Louisiana East volunteers were honored with council-level awards at the council’s recent Annual Meeting.
Girl Scout volunteers Barbara Owens and Pam Frederick from the River Parishes were recipients of the Appreciation Pin, which recognizes an individual’s outstanding service in delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, benefiting at least one geographic area of service.
Owens of Destrehan continues to give her time to Girl Scouts even though her own daughters are in college. Her effort led her service unit to have a tremendous increase in cookie sales.
Frederick, a resident of Luling, managed the area Cookie Cupboard for the first time last year. Her fellow volunteers said she handled the task with a positive attitude, helping the girls to have a successful sale.
She was noted as “the perfect example of how a mom of a Girl Scout can make a huge impact on the Girl Scout program in our community,” Director of Volunteerism Kari Volz said.
