HAHNVILLE — The St. Charles Parish Emergency Operations center is aware of an odor being detected by residents in the St. Rose area, authorities said.

St. Charles Parish Public Information Officer Renee Allemand Simpson said this has been reported to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, which is investigating the source of the odor on the IMTT site.

Air monitoring conducted by LA DEQ has shown the concentration of material does not present an immediate hazard or threat to public safety.

There are no protective measures recommended on the part of the public, Simpson said.
