LULING — A woman wanted for a week following a hit-and-run wreck on Airline Highway in St. Charles Parish turned herself into authorities Wednesday.
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office made the announcement on Facebook, saying Kimberly Albrecht was being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on a $12,000 bond.
Albrecht is charged for her suspected involvement in a hit and run June 5 on Airline Highway.
Authorities asked earlier Wednesday for the public’s help in locating Albrecht, who is charged with hit and run, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and expired drivers license.
Three women were traveling eastbound in the right lane on the Spillway Bridge at 8:45 p.m. June 5 when a vehicle traveling in the same lane struck their vehicle from the rear.
The vehicle stopped approximately a half-mile from the point of impact.
The victims were able to follow the subject, at which time the subject exited the vehicle, walked to the victims’ vehicle’s passenger-side door. The suspect allegedly looked at the victims before authorities said the subject then ran back to her vehicle and sped off, traveling eastbound on Airline Highway.
The three victims were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and released.
